MyCase workflow support

How can my firm use MyCase AI with a checked workflow?

Get more from the MyCase you already pay for. We assess your enabled features, agree which documents and tasks may use AI, and build a repeatable review process. A trained remote operator checks the draft against source records and logs exceptions. Your attorney controls legal decisions and approves release.

Custom pricing. Scope and price confirmed in writing.

Match education to the work, then test the work

Legal support outsourcing should begin with role fit. Review the proposed specialist’s education, relevant experience, writing and practical work against the task. LL.B., LL.M., J.D. and paralegal training describe different pathways; they do not establish U.S. attorney licensure.

Use a synthetic exercise that requires source checks and handling an unclear answer. Agree the review owner and permissions before a person or tool receives access.

What AI does MyCase publish?

MyCase's 8am IQ documentation lists Document Assistant, Writing Assistant, Case Assistant and Discovery Assistant. The products support document summaries, writing changes, case questions and OCR for eligible scanned documents.

The vendor says IQ respects existing user permissions and warns that output can be inaccurate. Discovery Assistant has page limits and an Advanced-plan dependency. We confirm the functions and limits applying to your account.

What would the custom workflow add?

The starting point is your firm's chosen task, not a promise to replace MyCase. We can define an approved source folder, draft naming rule, reviewer queue and exception log around the functions your account already supports.

For a proposed client-update workflow, the operator gathers the approved case facts, prepares a draft and checks every factual sentence. The attorney receives the draft together with sources and any unanswered questions.

  • Name the people permitted to select source records and run the AI step.
  • Separate draft preparation from approval and external sending.
  • Define what happens when source records disagree or remain incomplete.

What does the operator verify?

The person checks the case, document version, source pages, dates and amounts. A readable OCR result still needs comparison with the image where the information matters. A plausible summary is not evidence that the underlying file set is complete.

MyCase legal admin outsourcing can include daily queue review, controlled record updates and preparation of an attorney handoff. We match the assignment to relevant experience and a practical work sample, rather than treating familiarity with a product name as proof of competence.

What should my firm approve before AI is enabled?

Record the permitted data categories, user access, vendor terms and review purpose. MyCase says its Document Assistant sends selected material to an external model provider. Its FAQ distinguishes third-party model training from the vendor's own product-improvement use.

We do not describe that arrangement as entirely local processing. Your firm should review the current terms and decide which records may enter each AI function before a person processes them.

MyCase 8am IQ FAQs

How do we test the review process?

Use a synthetic packet containing an older draft and a newer signed version. Ask the operator to produce a short factual status draft, identify which version supports it and flag any statement missing a source.

A second test uses a poorly scanned amount. The workflow should make the uncertainty visible and route it for review. These are proposed acceptance tests, not results from a client deployment.

What stays with my attorneys?

Attorneys decide privilege, legal analysis, strategy, advice and final wording. Every AI output is a draft. Nothing goes to a client, court or opposing party without attorney approval.

How do we agree the work and cost?

AI pricing is custom and confirmed in writing. The scope identifies the MyCase features involved, the permitted workflow, acceptance tests, operator responsibilities and ongoing maintenance.

Software subscriptions and vendor charges are distinct from our setup and support. We first check whether a native MyCase function already handles the required step.

A person remains accountable

Six controls for every proposed AI workflow

Approved tools and data

Use only firm-approved systems, permissions and data categories.

Drafts with named reviewers

Label every AI output as a draft and route it to a named human reviewer.

Traceable extracted facts

Keep a source link or document/page reference for every extracted fact.

Visible exceptions

Log missing evidence, conflicting inputs and failed steps. Never silently fill gaps.

Attorney approval before sending

AI never makes legal decisions or gives advice. Nothing is sent to a client, court or opposing party without attorney approval.

Questions about this workflow

Does MyCase already have AI tools?

Yes. Its 8am IQ documentation lists Document, Writing, Case and Discovery Assistants. Feature availability, plan requirements and usage limits must be checked for your account.

Can I treat an AI summary as a complete case record?

No. Our review process compares the draft with the agreed source set and flags missing or contradictory material. The attorney determines what the final work can rely on.

Is the MyCase virtual legal assistant a replacement for my software?

No. A remote assistant is a person performing agreed support in your approved systems. MyCase remains the software platform, and counsel retains approval authority.
